Beware first-class travellers! Passengerssitting in the rear of a planehave the best chance of survival in the event ofa crash, an extraordinary andcostly aviation experiment ever conducted hasrevealed.

　　In a unique aviation experiment recently,the 170-seat Boeing 727 was madeto crash in a controlled manner in a remotepart of Mexico's Sonoran Desert.

　　They were arranged in three positions: onein the classic brace and wearinga seat-belt; one belted but not in the braceposition; and one neither beltednor in the brace.

　　After the jet hit the ground nose-first,experts found that the dummy inthe brace position would have survived theimpact, the one not in the bracewould have suffered serious head injuries, andthe dummy not wearing a seat-beltwould have perished.

　　The Boeing was packed with dozens ofcameras to record the impact from theinside. Footage was also collected on theground, in chase planes, and even fromthe ejecting pilot's helmet.
